Questions this guide will answer:
- Why do you a need a branded sending domain?
- How do I add DNS records to my branded sending domain?
- Do I need to use a DKIM key?
What type of content are you after?
Each profile in Pure360 can have one branded sending domain. This domain or sub-domain is registered by you, for the sole purpose of emailing via Pure360 – it should not be used to host websites or for any other service.
We will assign each profile one of our default domain masks until you choose to set up a custom mask.
Please read this guide and check with your domain administrator that you can set the nameservers as required. Some domain packages will not allow you to create a subdomain with different settings to the main domain
For this example let’s assume your company website has the domain ‘example.com’. Your email mask can be either of the following two options:
• A brand new full domain (i.e. ‘example-news.com’, or ‘example-email.com’)
• A sub-domain of your existing domain (i.e. ‘news.example.com’, or ’email.example.com’)
We’d suggest you don’t use prefixes or words that are likely to trigger spam filters, such as ‘offers.example.com’.
2) Set up your branded sending domain
Once a domain or sub-domain has been chosen and registered with your domain provider, it will need to be pointed towards our system’s name servers. Please confirm with your chosen domain provider they will be able to point your chosen domain or sub-domain to all our name servers. In the case of this not being possible for a sub-domain, registering a new full domain is generally the easiest and quickest solution.
If you’d like to use NS record mapping, please raise a support ticket using the in system support widget or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Alternatively if your domain provider does not allow the assignment of multiple name servers on a sub domain, you can set up the A, MX and TXT records manually. Once you have done this, contact Pure360 Support to have a DKIM key created for you. Add the DKIM key to another TXT record.
|Your new domain||TTL||Record type||Value|
|news.example.com||300||MX||mx0.pur3.net (priority: 10)|
|news.example.com||300||TXT||v=spf1 include:_spf.pur3.net ~all|
|pureresponse._domainkey.news.example.com||300||TXT||( DKIM Key provided )|
|_dmarc.news.example.com||3600||TXT||v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:email@example.com; ruf=mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org; fo=1|
|default._bimi.news.example.com||3600||TXT||(BIMI record provided)|
|news.example.com||3600||TXT||(Google Postmaster record provided)|
If you need to manage your own DNS entries then you can do so using the above method.
Please test your newly registered domain before submitting it to us – after you complete step 2, it may take up to 48 hours for the changes to propagate around the internet. If you would like any help checking the domain is working correctly, please contact our support team.
4) Contact us to add the branded sending domain to your profile
Log into the relevant profile in Pure360, then click on the ‘Support’ button on the right-hand side of the interface. Add a relevant subject line and put full information in the ticket, including:
• The domain or sub-domain you have pointed to us
• Whether you used the option of mapping the NS records or MX, A & TXT
• The full required from address including the part to the left of the @ sign record
Assuming the domain has been set up correctly, our Support team will be able to make your new domain mask available to use on your account within one working day.
DKIM (Domain Keys Identified Mail)
We support and recommend the implementation of Domain Keys Identified Mail (DKIM) signatures to maximise email deliverability. If you would like us to generate a DKIM signature for your masked domain then please ask, we’ll be happy to go through the process with you.
BIMI (Brand Indicator for message identification)
We support and are rolling out BIMI, which is a powerful technology building upon the existing architecture of DMARC. The pilot picks up and runs with DMARC, it requires a policy of quarantine or above to enable this to work.
• DMARC policy of quarantine or above.
• Logo in a SVG file type (Meaning it is a vector based image so any resizing will not affect the final quality)
Once you have created a domain and sent over your hosted logo, we will generate this record and go through the process with you.
Google Postmaster tools
This record is utilised by our deliverability team, as it allows the feeding of data into Google’s Postmaster tools. This gives five major areas for monitoring and reporting; on customer sends to SPAM rate / Domain and IP reputation / Authentication / Encryption / Delivery Errors
When you set up a new domain please provide the information to us so we can get a record setup. We’ll be happy to go through the process with you. The GPT record will be provided by your onboarding agent or Account manager please just ask and we will assist.
Can my mask be my normal company email address?
No – the subdomain needs to be unique and not used for any other purpose.
Can I have a different ‘from’ address for each campaign?
Changing the part of the ‘from’ address before the ‘@’ can be done by our Support team, but is not advisable to change this regularly. You may want to consider working from different profiles with different ‘from’ addresses.
Where do replies to email campaigns go?
Replies are forwarded on to your specified email address. You can change this at any time via ‘My account’ – ‘Account details’ – ‘Edit details’ in Pure360.
